Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
